Sniffer – with Erica Eyres – Glasgow and Reykjavík.

Sniffer is a collaboration project between Sigga Björg Sigurðardóttir and Erica Eyres. “Sniffer was born in the month of June, thus making him a typical Gemini. Abandoned by his parents at an early age, he spent his youth wandering the streets, aimlessly searching for food and love. All his life, Sniffer has suffered from a severe split personality (which is common amongst the Gemini), and has endured much pain and suffering throughout his quest for belonging…The artists present Sniffer in an installation that includes collaborative and individual works in painting, sculpture and video. These works form a narrative around a character “Sniffer” – an absurd, grotesque version of Charles Dickens’ Oliver Twist. As part of the exhibition Sigga and Erica have also created a publication that brings together drawings and texts to offer insights into the tragic life of Sniffer. The texts were also read into an audio book (read by Paul Evans) and the audiobook was played in the exhibition rooms.

“Who is Sniffer? Where did he come from? And what has he done to this house?”

Sniffer was exhibited in Glasgow´s renowned biennal Glasgow International in 2014 and later the same year in Reykjavík´s ASÍ  Art Museum.

Above are images of a drawing installation Sigga Björg did for Sniffer, videoclip and videostills from a collaborative videopiece. Please contact the artists for interest in Sniffer the book.
